3 Ways to Self Care During Covid-19

Covid-19. It’s everywhere. Everywhere you turn and look the pandemic crisis seems to be omnipresent. No wonder the beaches and bars were crowded this past Memorial Day Weekend. People have reached what is being called “Quarantine Fatigue.”

People are basically tired of staying home with no breaks and no end in sight.

We need people. We are created to bond and connect. We suffer when our social bonds are broken.

However, we also need time for ourselves. Part of not being quarantined included breaks from our loved ones. We need breaks.

Let me alleviate your guilt. Just because you don’t want to be around your family 24/7 does not mean you don’t love them. You need time to recharge, refresh, and renew. You cannot pour from an empty cup. Here are three things you can do immediately to unplug while you’re inside:

1. Switch up your media diet:
There is no reason to watch CNN 24/7 – set your phone to send you breaking news or check on the state of affairs at the end of the week.
2. Exercise

Exercise releases endorphins. Endorphins are only one of many neurotransmitters released when you exercise. Physical activity also stimulates the release of dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin. These brain chemicals play an important part in regulating your mood.

Exercise at least 30 min a day. You can pull a quick video from YouTube or if you prefer doing it with a group for accountability you can join our 21 Day Body Transformation Challenge!

3. Soak in a hot tub
Now is the time to go all out. Add oils, flowers, and bath salts. Light candles. Read a book. This time should be uninterrupted – put a sign on the door if you need to but the other members of the house should respect this boundary.
As we slowly adjust to this new way of life we should be mindful to be gentle with ourselves. You don’t have to be a rockstar during a Global Pandemic. It’s ok to take a break to recharge your battery.
